2. What is the difference between a Commissioner for Oaths

    and a Notary Public?

A Commissioner for Oaths only has authority to administer oaths and take affidavits. A notary public has much broader authority.
A Notary Public can "notarize" copies of documents (verify as a true copy).


3. What types of documents can I have commissioned?

A Commissioner for Oaths does the following:
• Administering or commissioning oaths
• Taking affidavits, affirmations, acknowledgments, or declarations
• Assisting with certain immigration documents (e.g. passport application, permanent residence card application, consent to travel documentation, etc.).
